Medford's Freedom Park includes
a 30,000 square foot skateboard park. After three years of planning,
the park opened in 2000 to rave reviews.
The fees for daily, quarterly
and yearly use are reasonable, and the rules allow non-township residents
to use the facility.
All users must obtain a photo
identification membership card or daily pass. Cards/passes can be
obtained from the Medford Recreation Department office, located in Cranberry
Hall behind the Medford Municipal Center at 17 N. Main Street. Daily passes
may be obtained at New Concepts Hobby Shop - 626 Stokes Road and Zone
44 - Taunton Forge Shopping Center; Tuckerton & Taunton Roads.
For Complete details, visit
the Freedom Park
web page.
Worldwide
Recognition
In 2000, the National
Geographic Society selected 65 small towns in the US to be featured in
a special publication called "The Guide to Small Town Escapes." Of
course out town made the list, the only town in New Jersey.
Here's an excerpt of what
they had to say about Medford:
"While Medford is foremost
a residential town, a spattering of antique shops and craft boutiques occupy
Main Street's walls, purveying century-old dolls and country style armoires,
handmade wooden toys and Victorian vases."
Don't take our town's unique
character for granted. Spend a day exploring our town. You can
start with the Medford Trails Guide to Antique Shops.
A
Town With History
Did You Know:
Our famous Kirby's Mill pre-dates
the revolutionary war by several years, and remained in operation until
1920.
On Jennings Road (the little
street between the car wash and the Acme) is the place where the first
machine– made cut nails in America were produced using horse– powered
machinery.
The Indian Chef Tavern was
originally at Union and Main Streets in the building that is now
The Stagecoach Cafe. And when it opened in 1810, it really was a
stagecoach stop.
